Aesthetic Implant Treatment

Successful implant treatment depends on the ability to act like natural teeth and be in harmony with the tissue and the bone. Basic precautions can be important for that and advanced level techniques must be performed by the clinician, and the implant must include the technology to imitate natural structure.

What are the basic precautions?

a- The clinician must have some surgical knowledge and experience as positioning the implant, and needs to avoid trauma.

b- If possible implant must be implanted right after the extraction of the tooth. Scientifically proved that bone in the extraction area melts 30% to 60% in the next 6 months. This causes the bone melting and gum retraction in the implant area.

c- Extraction of the tooth must be non-traumatic, and special techniques must be used for that.

d- If implanting after the extraction is not possible, the cavity must be filled with special material and technique for protection against bone melting.

Advanced Tecniques

If extraction was performed long ago before implantation and bone melting is too much, operation named pink esthetic must be performed to reposition gum.

a- The bone includes the implant area and near teeth is the roof for the gum. To produce the gum and keep it for long time the bone must be structured first. This is done by advanced techniques includes grafting and directed tissue regeneration.

b- After the bone structure is done, connective tissue and gum transplant must be performed.

After all these steps, pink esthetic is done and now white esthetic is much easier to perform.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacament and is used in prosthetic dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. Implant is a device placed into or on top of the jaw bone to provide support or retention for a dental restoration or prothesis. A small metal pin placed inside the jawbone to mimic the root of a tooth. The process of shaping the surface of a titanium rod help create implants. In the recent years, implants got good results on stability. If patient’s missing teeth area has enough thickness and height, then the implant operation will be convenient. After 1 to 2 hour operation, lower jaw (mandibular) implants takes 1.5 months to blend with bones and upper jaw bone (maxilla) implants takes 3 months to blend. After this blending period, if there is only one tooth missing, then we will need to use one crown. If there are missing teeth, then we will use bridge or prothesis.

The dentist carefully looks at the patient’s x-rays to examine and decide which implant method to use on each case.

Implant and Aesthetic Teeth in One Session

With modern dentistry technologies it is possible to do all the implants and esthetic in one session. Especially in cases which bone support is enough and non-infective teeth extraction is performed, after the implant with temporary covering bone melting is significantly low, and gum esthetic is much better.

Implant and Teeth in Patients with All-on-Four non Teeth Mouth

It is performed without the need of advanced surgical techniques in situations which implant is not possible because of the massive loss of bone, especially in elders. Because of the less bone loss in the front region, it is based on anatomically two angled long implant and two implant in the front region. If enough bone support provided, the patients can have their teeth in same day. In prosthetic state coverings are fixed with 4 or 6 implants from the top with screw as one piece.
